Frequently Asked Questions
Taster Session
Yes, this Taster Session is open to all persons ages 14yo and above, regardless of experience.
Our coaches will help guide you through all the activities!
Most of our attendees for this Taster Session are working adults, so we’d recommend against bringing pre-teen children in case they don’t feel comfortable with classmates significantly older than themselves.
Sadly not. This Taster Session is only available in English.
Sadly not. This Taster Session is only conducted in-person.
We recommend coming in loose & comfortable attire.
Our activities will involve a little bit of physicality, so make sure you can move about freely & avoid restrictive footwear (e.g. no heels).
You may wish to bring along a water bottle & writing materials for note-taking, but these are optional!
As long as you come with an open mind & a willingness to try new things, our coaches will settle the rest!
Production Services
Absolutely not! All improv teams can approach us for help to stage their improv shows!
As long as you’re an improv team, we’re open to hear your pitch for shows!
We generally keep our shows within the ‘Advisory-16’ rating in Singapore. This tends to be the sweet spot between keeping shows accessible while ensuring our performers are free to be spontaneous on stage!
That said, we also want to make sure our shows are safe and inclusive spaces for audiences. As such, we’ll reject show pitches that encourage disrespectful behaviours or aren’t in line with our values (e.g. homophobia, misogyny, racism, etc.)
We’ll handle the ticketing, venue, & off-stage manpower needed for your show.
For ticketing, your show will be publicised on the public listing of LIT’s Eventbrite Box Office.
For venue, we work with a number of venue partners around central Singapore to help bring improv shows to their audiences.
And for manpower, we’ll manage a volunteer crew that will man your Front-of-House & Console Booth.
All this is covered by the ticketing profits after expenses, including the performing team’s Stipend.
Besides the general details submitted to us upon first contact, we’ll also need the performing team’s input in their marketing content (i.e. their promotion spiel & their team / show pictures).
If we deem it necessary for quality control, we might also request to discuss the dramaturgy of your show over the phone.
Otherwise, we’ll do our best to handle most of the production stuff so that the performing team can focus on shaping their show!
As LIT specialises in improvisational theatre & comedy, we probably won’t be the best fit to help with producing scripted content.
That said, we informally help share audition calls for scripted content to our network of improv performers. If you’re interested in having performers who can adjust quickly to unfamilair scenes, let us know & we’ll spread the word for you!
Generally, all public shows are paid based on the number of seats sold from their show.
40 or more seats = S$200.00 Stipend
30-39 seats = S$100.00 Stipend
20-29 seats = S$50.00
less than 20 seats = No Stipend
These rates are accurate as of 2024 Nov & are subject to changes by LIT.
We aim to complete all Stipend payments within the 1st week of the following month.
If you’re still waiting on your team’s Stipend, please contact us at hello@larksimprov.com & we’ll help sort it out for you!
Community
Contact us & we’ll direct you to the relevant platforms!
As some of our community activities require knowledge of improvisational theatre & comedy, we may need to verify your improv background before admitting you to community platforms.
That said, some activities won’t require improv experience; such events are more likely to be open to the general public!
It depends.
Some of our activities require a minimum understanding of improv (e.g. jams), so your friends might feel lost if they turned up without any context.
Other activities are purely social and don’t involve improv (e.g. board games nights). During these types of events, we welcome improvisers to let their friends tag along!
Ultimately, it’s best to check in the event description if you’re discouraged to bring guests or not.
Yes! As long as you’re familair with the basics of improv, we’d be happy to host you at our community activities!
Drop us a message via email or WhatsApp, and we’ll add you to the relevant platforms!
We’d be happy to help spread the word if you’re organising an event that improvisers might be interested in!
Contact our team, & we’ll figure out how we can support you!
We’d Love to Hear From You!
